One of hockey’s most legendary voices is gone.

Bob Cole was the soundtrack to Saturday night’s on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada for five decades.

Cole died at his home in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Wednesday at age 90.

He called some of the biggest moments in hockey history, including the 1972 Summit Series, Canada’s Olympic gold win in 2002 and many Stanley Cup championships.

He was inspired as a young broadcaster by Foster Hewitt, the original play-by-play voice of Hockey Night.

Cole retired in 2019 after making his debut in 1973 on TV.
