Joseph Novak
September 21,1929 – April 25,2024

Surrounded with love, Joe Novak passed away peacefully Thursday, April 25,2024 at the LWDH after a brief illness, aged 94.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 71 years, Pauline; daughters Joan, Patti (Art); grandchildren Jeff (Tessa), Joey, and John. Joe recently became a great grandfather of twins, Quinn Joseph and Navy Dawn Lockhart and they brought him such joy!

He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Jean Novak.

Joe and Pauline were married on April 18,1958 and had just celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary!
Joe began his working life as a fireman with CPR and later moved to Canada Post where he retired in 1988 after a 30-year career as a postal clerk.

After retirement, Joe and Pauline spent many summers at the camp on Dogtooth Lake where he loved to spend his time fishing and fixing anything that needed repair.

His family was the most important aspect of his life and he doted on his three grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Gramps”.

Anyone who met Joe will recall his humorous quick wit and ability to cast a “zinger” to whomever he encountered.

The family of Joe would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of 2 East and the Palliative Care team at LWDH. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a future date.
