It is with utmost sorrow that we announce the passing of our sister, auntie, cousin, grandmother, and mother Elaine. She is predeceased by her grandparents James Williamson and Marie Seymour, Thomas Favell and Margaret Garneau her parents, Thomas Walter Favell and Dorothy Williamson, son Evan Wetelainen, sisters Eleanor (Ellie) Favell and Georgina (Gina) Favell, niece Karen Favell, cousins and numerous other family members who will be greeting her.

She leaves to mourn her partner in life Eugene Peterson, sons Clayton (Candace) Wetelainen, Everett Wetelainen and Elaine’s good friend Kristen Stucky, brothers Tom (Leonas) Favell and Wayne (Sheila) Favell, sisters Kathy (Brian) McIvor, Glenda (Mike) Ross, grandchildren Ethan, River, Faith, Arabella, Amara, and Merrick, nephews Bill (Florence) Favell, Brian Jr (Peggy) McIvor, Justin (Rachel) Favell, Mikey Ross, Wayne (Genita) Fair, Clayton Fair, Skyler Favell, Forest Favell, nieces Cheryl (Stephen) Edwards, Laurie (Ron) Spalding, Rochelle (Calvin) Svihel, Michelle Ledoux, Rachel (Romano) Fair, Celine (John) Favell, Brianne Mousseaux, and many cousins and numerous other family members.

Elaine loved camping at either at powwows or blueberry camp and especially spending time with her grandbabies at these camps. She loved fishing with her partner Eugene and loved watching news and morning tv shows with each other. Elaine would also have a little passion for the shiny place also known as a casino run. Elaine was an amazing cook you would always find her in the kitchen preparing her favourite recipes. Up until her illness, Elaine opened a restaurant in Wabigoon and loved to see her customers enjoy her secret recipes. Elaine would always make sure to sit and watch her hummingbirds on the back deck which reminded her of her Father. Elaine’s sweet laugh will always be remembered by her love Eugene and his family who referred to her as tiny cute.

Elaine was a residential school survivor and recently was honoured to sit with Elders from Wauzhushk to offer guidance on searching for missing children of the residential school. Elaine had a passion to preserve anishinaabemowin and encouraged her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to learn and speak her first language. Elaine held her traditional teachings with high importance and lived by these teachings. We will always love and remember her until we see her again. Baamaapii miinawaa gaawaabimin.

Elaine’s Wake will begin Friday May 3rd, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Golden Eagle Bingo Hall in Wauzhushk Onigum Nation. The traditional service will be on Saturday May 4th, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Golden Eagle Bingo Hall in Wauzhushk Onigum Nation, burial will follow at Wauzhushk Onigum Nation.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s name made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
