It is with deep sadness that the family of Harry Green announce his sudden passing on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Harry was predeceased by his parents Harry and Lenora, brother Glen and granddaughter Ann Green.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Yvonne, his children Lori (Wade), Sheri (Derek), David, Emi-Dawn (Kevin), Trisha, Tyson (Krystl), as well as his grandchildren, Jordan, Patrick, Shayd, Trent, Samantha, Haleigh, Phoenix, Shilo and Cooper and great grandchildren Nickolas and Lucas Green.

He is also survived by his siblings Garry (Sonia), Gail Hintz (Russel), Ronald (Donna), Warren (Anita), Lindsay (Rose), as well as many much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Harry also had another family… His AA family… Harry found sobriety in 1983 and with his tough love approach, supported countless others to do the same over the past 41 years. Harry worked diligently as a and sponsor for many. His no B.S., strikingly honest approach helped many people on their own sobriety journeys.

Harry was born in Kenora on July 13, 1946. He was a “Norman boy” who grew up surrounded by family and friends in Norman. All who knew him can attest to his love of the outdoors and his incredible sense of humour.

He spent as much time as he could enjoying nature. Hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, camping, canoeing and trapping. When he was in nature he was truly in his element.

As a father Harry was straight forward, honest, and always willing to teach his passions. He was also always on the ball. As one of his kids you learned that he seemed to have eyes everywhere. He knew every trick and was always a step ahead. As a grandpa he heaped love on all his grandchildren.

For 25 years Harry worked in the ground wood at the Pulp and Paper Mill, with his no quit attitude and spent his retirement years working at Changes Recovery Home.

Harry will be remembered as a friend to people from all walks of life. He had a special way of connecting with the people around him. He never elevated himself above others. He saw the struggles and trappings they were suffering and met them there by relating his own trials and never judging. This made him a comfortable and welcoming person to be around. He will be greatly missed.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference.”

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Kenora, Ontario.
