The Centennial Cup, emblematic of junior hockey supremacy in Canada, starts today in Oakville.

The Sioux Lookout Bombers are the SIJHL representatives and a one of 10 teams in the competition.

Coach Carson Johnstone says they know they’ll be playing four games in the next week.

“We can kind of break that down and have a look at the four teams in the round robin and then from there, once you’re at the tournament, if we end up having success, we’ll probably be able to watch some of the other teams that we might be lining up against,” suggests Johnstone.

Johnstone add the players are looking forward to the challenge.

“They’re not done and they know they are hungry to try to prove something there because that’s the best 10 teams in Canada for all intents and purposes.  That’s the opportunity that we’ve been awarded for winning our league, so we want to go there and show that we can compete.”

The Bombers first game is against the Winkler Flyers at 11 (noon eastern time)

The Flyers are the winners of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

The Bombers will then play the host Oakville Blades Saturday night, the Miramachi Timberwolves Sunday night, and wrap up the round robin next Tuesday against the Melfort Mustangs from Saskatchewan.
