Rainfall warning remains in much of NWO along with flood warnings

Much of the region remains under a rainfall warning.

The only exception is Thunder Bay, where the rain is expected to ease up later today.

Trudy Kidd from Environment Canada says areas to the west of Thunder Bay should see more rain today.

“Kenora, Dryden, those areas, they are actually expecting 50 to 80 millimeters,” explains Kidd.

“But then into Pickle Lake, those areas are more like 30 to 60 (millimeters).  Depending on where you are you might see more or less rainfall.  Even within those regions there’s quite a bit of variability.

In the meantime, a flood watch has been issued for the Thunder Bay and Ignace areas.

That includes Upsala, Raith, Shebandowan, Kasabowie, and Armstrong.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says in particular resident should be cautious in back country areas.

That includes little traveled roads, lakes and rivers, where there is the potential of high runoff.
