The country’s unemployment rate ticked up slightly in May.

Statistics Canada says it rose by a tenth of a percentage points to 6.2 percent.

Year-over-year, unemployment is up 0.9 percent.

The country added over 27,000 new jobs last month.

Canadians are making over five percent more in hourly wages compared to last year.

It’s up $1.69 to $34.94 on average.

Employment did rise in jobs like healthcare, social assistance, finance, insurance and real estate.

But employment declined among women aged 25 to 54 and young men.
