Dryden council approves funding for design plans for clubhouse

It’s going to cost just over $146,000 for architectural and design plans for a new clubhouse at the Sandy Beach Golf Course.

Dryden city council approved the bid from Boreal Architecture in its Request For Proposals.

CAO of the city Roger Nesbitt says they want the design plans done sooner rather later so they know how much a new clubhouse might cost.

“We want to have everything completed by September 30th, so we’re in a good window for capital budget planning for 2025 and we’re able to get out right away and look for some funding opportunities, with that knowledge of what that facility will cost,” Nesbit told city council at their open meeting earlier this week.

The city now operates the golf course.

Mayor Jack Harrison says they need to have the plans so the building can be shovel ready.

“The reason (why) we went to not just architectural designs but also construction documents, so we can actually understand what would be the costs of building this facility.  Which would give us more information for making a decision.”

Money for the project comes from the NWMO’s Community Well-Being Fund.
