Five groups across northwestern Ontario are sharing $30,000 from Tbaytel’s For Good program.
The Dryden Fire Service is getting just over $4,000 so it can install free smoke alarms.
The Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club chalet will receive about $5,500 for maintenance needs including replacing a broke window, and degraded siding, purchasing new equipment for its Learn to Ski Jack Rabbit program, installing solar lighting in their garage and updating map and trail signage.
The Whitefish School Kindergarten will use $9,300 to enhance their play yard.
Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School in Thunder Bay received the highest score and is getting $1,600 for its “Grand Friend” program in which grade 7 students travel to Pioneer Ridge 8 to 10 times a year.
The Conmee Emergency Service Department will receive over $9,300 for a new life saving tool called the Holmatro Pentheon Combi Tool to aid in traffic accidents.
This year Tbaytel received 63 applications to the For Good program, which is the highest number they’ve ever received.
