The Dryden Regional Health Centre has announced a new partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police to support community mental health and addiction crises.

A Mobile Crisis Response Team is being established with funds from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

The new team will see OPP officers paired with a mobile crisis worker when responding to mental health and addiction calls for service.

The crisis workers will be based out of the Dryden OPP detachment and they will respond to live calls while providing outreach, follow-up services, and immediate crisis response in the community.

“We are proud of this collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police and working together to make this valuable service available in our community,” says President and Chief Executive Officer at Dryden Regional Health Centre, Doreen Armstrong-Ross. “The MCRT program provides supports to some of our most vulnerable community members, helping to connect them with the care and services they need.”

The response team is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Dryden sponsored and purchased equipment for the team to use while on duty.
