Senior’s housing project nearing completion

A 56-unit seniors housing complex near Walmart should be ready for occupancy in the next few months.

Chief Administrative Officer of the Kenora District Services Board Henry Wall says if there are no delays the building should be ready later this year or early next year.

“We’re fairly confident that as a Christmas present to the community, we should be in a position to have units available after Christmas this year,” said Wall recently.

“That’s the plan.  By the end of this year, we would like to have it ready for occupancy.”

The province announced $4.5 million in funding back in October of 2022 for the senior’s housing complex.

He adds the other project they are monitoring is the 30-unit supportive housing project behind the Kenora Armories on 9th Street North and that should be ready for occupancy at any month now.

Initially, it had been hoped the project would be ready by the end of last year.
