“After all these years, it’s still embarrassing for me to play on the American golf tour. Like the time I asked my caddie for a sand wedge, and he came back ten minutes later with a ham on rye.” – Chi Chi Rodriguez.

Good job everyone! 63 members and one guest put in a round of golf today. The final scores are in and tabulated. A select few are in possession of these numbers. Each have been sworn to secrecy. No point in trying to bribe anyone. That is unless you have beer. Beer has been known to twist arms!

Our senior men’s club champion will be announced next Tuesday in both the gross score and net score categories. As well, the winners of each flight will be feted. Trophies will be presented to winners in the gross score categories. We also have the matchplay champion and runner-up trophies ready to present, providing the remaining matches can all take place in this next week.

Speaking of the matchplay… it is nearing its epic conclusion. Four players remain standing. Grant Lawrence has won every match he has been in which is an outstanding accomplishment. He will have one match to go once two other matches are decided. The winner of the Tim Tuusa/Gerry Beilner match will advance to compete against Randy Smith. The winner of that match will go onto compete against Grant Lawrence. Good stuff guys!

Be sure to remember that we will be starting our final league golf game of the season at 10 AM on September 17. By now, you should have already signed up as there was some urgency to nail down numbers for the food service.

Next Tuesday’s competition will be an 18 hole four-man scramble with teams formed as we do throughout the season with Gold, Silver and Bronze winning teams. Four drive minimum per player. All players tee off from Red on Holes 3, 8, 15 and 18.

Awards Dinner after the Round (approx. 2:30 – 4:30 pm) will be catered by Bluewater Whole Hog. Guests will be welcome but must be signed up, Guest dinner price is $25.
