The City of Kenora will finish the year in the black.
Even though the city’s finances are not audited yet, initial projection are for a $951,616 surplus.
That’s despite $214,000 in tax write-offs.
The city’s director of finance Ryan Marsh the surplus comes from $506,000 in savings from wages and benefits and from $563,000 primarily a result of the recycling contract.
The solid waste and sewer and water departments are projecting a slight deficit on their operations this year.
