Air Canada reaches tentative agreement with pilots union

Air Canada has reached a tentative agreement with its pilots, according to a statement from the airline.

Tension was high going into the weekend, when either side could have issued a 72-hour notice of strike on Sunday.

Air Canada is the country’s largest airline. The Air Line Pilots Association union represents more than 5,200 pilots.

The agreement is for four years, but specific details of the new agreement won’t be revealed at least until after the union votes to ratify the agreement.

Both Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge will keep running normally, avoiding major flight delays and cancellations for countless passengers across the country.

If some people used Air Canada’s labour disruption goodwill policy to change their flights scheduled between Sept. 15 and 23 and moved them to a different date before Nov. 30, those people can change their flights back.
