Della Nee Carr (Litkowski, Bourgouin)
October 28, 1950 – July 13, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Della Marie Carr (Litkowski, Bourgouin). On July 13, 2024 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer, she was taken from us in a tragic car accident in Naples Florida. She passed peacefully with her two children by her side.
Della was born in Dryden on October 28, 1950. Raised in Keewatin, Ontario with her four siblings and many foster brothers and sisters over the years. As a child she attended St. Louis School and enjoyed brownies, girl guides, skating, swimming games with her close neighbors (Favreaus). She later attended Beaver Brae Secondary School.
Della met the love of her life Michael Litkowski and married in 1969. They settled in their first home in Keewatin and soon welcomed their son Dann in 1972 and daughter Deanne in 1974. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom for years and also kept busy selling Avon, quilting, baking and making perogies. She was an amazing cook and loved to share her baked goods with family, friends, and neighbors. In 1989, Della entered the workforce at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, first in the laundry department and later in kitchen until retirement in 2007.
In 1992, life changed when Della became an active and continued member of AA. Her sobriety years were among her toughest years, but those in which she was most proud. In 2005, she found a wonderful, kind man named Charlie Carr. They married in 2007 on a beach in Naples, Florida. Together they shared Florida beaches, ocean, sunshine and friends.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her children Derin Litkowski, Deanne Litkowski (Stuart Kawalenko). Her favorite boy and sparkle of her eye, Jackson Peter James Litkowski (only grandchild) and all the wonderful friends through her life.
