Clocks go back across most of Canada this weekend

By Brad Perry Nov 1, 2024 | 8:06 AM

Most Canadians will be gaining an hour of sleep this weekend.

Daylight saving time ends for the year at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Clocks will move back by one hour across most of the country.

Daylight saving time is meant to save energy and maximize the use of daylight hours.

Some areas do not observe daylight saving time, including most of Saskatchewan and parts of Quebec, British Columbia, Nunavut and northwestern Ontario.

When you are changing your clocks, you should also check your smoke alarms and change the batteries.

Daylight saving time will return on March 9, when clocks will go ahead one hour.
