Dean Nelson Letander
February 21, 1978 – October 26, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Nelson Letander announce his passing on October 26, 2024 at the age of 46.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Tessie and John Henry. His foster dad Peter Wedge, his brothers and sister, Derek Letander, Freeman Letander and Rebecca Cameron (Letander). Uncles and aunty, Paul Henry, Bill Fraser and Agnes Fisher.
Dean will be missed by his mother Mary Letander, his foster mother Pat Wedge, his siblings; Myrtle (Tom) and Andrew (Amanda) Letander, uncles: Anthony (Valerie) and Frank Henry, nephews Andrew, Brendan, Jareth, Derek, Josh, Raine, Paul (Marcia), Thomas II, Kaidyn, Keithan, Kirk (Savannah), Ronald, Dakota and Donaven, nieces Becca (Brendan), Salona Shayanne, Andrea, Eileen, Starlow, Starlene, Ashlyn, Diana, Naleina, Auvee, Salona Marie (Justin) and Evaleen, great nieces/nephews Jensen, Robert, Darius, Liles, Lucas, Jaxton, Hailey, Ashten, Abby, Janel and Lenaya, cousins and friends, as well as many more too numerous to mention…
Dean enjoyed spending his time playing his video games, spent hours with Fallout. He always encouraged family members to visit, especially the nieces/nephews with their babies. He had a dog named Makwa, who he trained and loved until his passing. Years went by, he decided to take in his sister’s cat Cookie, he wasn’t really a cat person before but Cookie changed his mind. Which led him to take in a stray, who he called Jay. He spent 20+ years working the nurses at the medical building in Whitedog. He always had people laughing, always helped others when he can, and he was there to listen when someone needed to talk. Dean was a good son, father, brother, uncle and a friend.

A wake service will begin on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 4:00pm at Whitedog Community Hall, Whitedog, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:00am at Whitedog Community Hall with burial to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, Ontario.
