Firefighters in Northwest Ontario have put out two forest fires in the last 24 hours.

That brings the total of active burning fires down to 10.

Two fires popped up since Tuesday evening.

One on Leon Island in Lake Superior is being observed.

But one near Rainy Lake on Couchiching First Nation was extinguished yesterday.

There’s a moderate risk of fire in Dryden and Kenora, and the most extreme hazard has shifted to include both Fort Frances and Thunder Bay.

Nipigon, Red Lake, and Sioux Lookout areas range from low to high hazard levels.
