Police in Sioux Lookout have charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic stop on Highway 72.

The incident took place on October 13, when officers from the Ontario Provincial Police’s Sioux Lookout Detachment were conducting speed enforcement in the area. They observed a vehicle traveling significantly above the speed limit and initiated a stop.

During the traffic stop, officers noticed open alcohol inside the vehicle, raising further concerns about impairment. The driver underwent testing at the scene, which confirmed that they were impaired by alcohol. The individual was subsequently arrested and transported to the Sioux Lookout Detachment for further testing.

The driver now faces charges of operation while impaired, including blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. They have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on November 26.
