Garry Caron
July 27, 1941 – October 9, 2024

It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Garry Caron on October 9, 2024 at Pinecrest Home for the Aged.

Left to mourn his passing and will be forever missed by his sister Janet Dafoe and her three daughters Jennifer Zinn (Rolly), Dana Favreau (Jason) and Tegan Lava (Jeff). An Uncle by title, he treated “the girls” as if they were his own. When he became a Great Uncle to Braden, Liam, Jordynn, Phoenix, Isabella, Carter and Madison he wore that title with pride and spoiled them with love. Visits always included treats and goodies, and of course photo ops. The time we spent together will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Also left to mourn his passing and will be missed by his nephew Robert Caron (Glenda), his children Liam and Jaime and his niece Julie Barritt (Brent), her daughter Addison; sister-in- laws, Gloria (Ken) Woytiuk, Theresa (Allan) Syganiec; numerous in-law nieces/nephews; cousins and friends.

Garry was predeceased by his loving wife Elsie (2024) of 40 years, his parents Philip Joseph and Elizabeth Mary Caron, brothers Robert William, Stewart Beverly, and Barry Phillip (Molly), brother-in-law Stephen Kravetz (1977), sister-in-law Delores Romas (2005), brother-in-law Wally Romas (2004), brother-in-law Peter Kravetz (2012), sister-in-law Patsy Romas (2015) and sister-in-law Stephanie Kravetz (2017).

Over the many years living in Kenora and cutting hair locally for over 40 years Garry made many friends who cared and loved him. Not only did Garry have a love for hairstyling he enjoyed gardening, reading, playing crib and having company over at their home. A quiet gentle caring soul that also enjoyed telling and hearing jokes during the friends and family visits.

He was an involved parishioner at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kenora along with being a member of the Knights of Columbus and Canadian Royal Purple Society. Garry will be greatly missed by all.

We would like to thank Dr. Wiens, the staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and Pinecrest Home for the Aged for their care of Garry.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 430 – 4th Street North, Kenora, Ontario with Father Yaroslav Buduykevych officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Garry’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.
