Several groups seeking the same or slightly higher funding from the city

Some financial help from groups the City of Kenora provides funding for.

In a tight budget year, several groups say they aren’t asking for much more money from the city next year.

Triple Play, the Kenora Public Library and Handi-Transit are holding their financial asks to the city the same as last year or just a bit higher.

Braden Murray is the director of the Muse and they are actually asking for less support from the city.

“In 2025, slightly more for the Museum, $423,526, and slightly less for the (Douglas Family) Arts Center, $279,047,” Murray told a special budget meeting this week.

“For a grand total of $1,300 less than last year.  So, we’re giving you a deal this year.”

Murray adds the savings are for an intern that was hired, but didn’t end up taking the position because there was nowhere to stay in the city.

Also, the Kenora Public Library is seeking just $2,5000 more and Handi-Transit is asking for $1,600 extra.
