Third teen charged in Wabaseemoong homicide case

A 15-year-old is facing Robbery charges as a result of police’s ongoing investigation into the death of 42-year-old Raymond Land.

The investigation into the homicide of 42-year-old Raymond Land of Wabaseemoong Independent Nation has brought forward charges for a third teenager.

The OPP and the Treaty Three Police Service say a 15-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with Robbery in relation to the ongoing investigation.

The 15-year-old becomes the third person charged in relation to the death, which occurred on October 27 in the Cameron’s Loop area of Wabaseemoong. Police had responded to the area after reports of someone facing life-threatening injuries. The victim, Raymond Land, later passed away at the hospital.

By November 2, the OPP and Treaty Three Police had charged a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old, who also cannot be named, with second-degree murder, breaking and entering and robbery as a result.

The 17-year-old is also facing additional charges of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The OPP and Treaty Three Police Service are requesting that anyone who was present at the scene of Cameron’s Loop on October 27 and may have taken photos or videos to contact them immediately at [email protected].
