The Town of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls has officially opened it’s newest recreational facility.

It’s a four-season covered multi-purpose complex behind the municipal office.

Heather Gropp is the town’s Economic Development Officer and says it can be used for a number of different things.

“The old rink used to be just a rink and so when we did this new one we wanted to take advantage of all seasons,” says Gropp.

“It does have a cover and it’s got three pickle ball courts and two basketball courts and the capacity to hold a number of community events.”

Gropp adds the recreation facility cost about $2.4 million with funding from the federal and provincial government’s as well as the town.

” This is definitely one of our larger projects for sure.  But the results are fantastic and we have an amazing facility for our residents to use.”

She says the first phase of it was funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program and the second phase was funded by FedNor and the NOHFC (Northern Ontario Heritage Fund).
