Talks are resuming between WestJet and its maintenance workers.

The two sides have agreed to come back to the bargaining table to work together to find a resolution.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association has also rescinded its strike notice.

WestJet adds it is working to resume normal operations as soon as possible.  Over 40 flights have already been cancelled over the past two days.

“In returning to the bargaining table, we are committed to finding a resolution to avoid further disruption to our operations,” said Diederik Pen, President of WestJet Airlines and Group Chief Operating Officer.

The Canadian Industrial Relations Board advised the airline yesterday that it needs more time to decide whether or not an arbitrator is needed to help resolve collective bargaining.
