Dryden council approves two motions dealing with Noel

Dryden City Council has passed a pair of motions aimed at councillor Ritch Noel.

One of the motions removes him from the Working Circle Committee immediately.

Mayor Jack Harrison says comments attributed to him on social media severely compromises his ability to represent the city on that committee.

“The Working Circle…I recommended councillor Noel for the position,” Harrison told city council at the open meeting Monday night.

“We voted on it.  I think circumstances have changed.  We need to ask councillor Noel to step back from his position.”

Councillor Martin McKinnon wants to make sure the public doesn’t tar council with the same brush.

“The Working Circle is hugely important to us and our relationship with our neighbors is hugely important to us.  And please do not judge what one person says…allegedly said…is coming from all of us.”

The second motion Dryden Council passed was to engage the city’s integrity Commissioner to look into Noel’s conduct.

The only comment Councillor Noel made at the meeting was to say he would have declared a conflict of interest in voting, if that option was given on the motions.
